friday night

it's time to get down. into my bed and sleep, that is. this week kicked my butt, but, i did manage to get 6-7 hrs of nice technical singletrack mtb in again - nights and wknd. i'm definitely holding-off on climbing aboard the pain machine (indoor trainer) for as long as possible this year. jumped-on for a 45min grind in the biggest gear possible on wed, but it was just for kicks. i know the 3hr indoor sessions loom ... and i've begun hoarding dvd's in anticipation... but until it snows a ton, i'm trail riding and lovin' it! ... but i also know this relaxed attitude will cease to exist soon enough and it'll be back to basics, back to endurance training... but until i get the sense that it's ovah and time to get to 2006, i'm riding-out the remenents of a great 2005 season! wed was a cool ride in that it brought me over 500 saddle hours for the year, the most i've done to date. with 600+ planned for next year, i hope for some solid results...

What DVD's do you plan on using this year? In the past I've used the Tour of course, some old UCI World Cup MTB races I have taped and 2 years of Motezuma's Revenge.

I'm no good with "real" movies. Can't concentrate. I wish I could track down some more World Cups. Of course this year I'll watch Off Road to Athens and a couple workout dvds.

yo man, for 20-60min rides i'll usually just watch TV (news). for rides over an hour i'm into movies. i try to choose a flick that is the same length as the ride. i like knowing that when the movie ends, i'm done. for 60-120min rides i'll watch bike or ski "porn" or whatever flicks i've picked-up at the movie store. 3hr rides take a touch more planning in that there are only so many 3hr flicks... here are a couple-few 3hr movies i really dig:

lord of the rings
bridge over the river kwai
godfather trilogy
lawrence of arabia
the good, the bad, and the ugly
the great escape
the dirty dozen

do you have any bike or ski porn movies you recommend? i've got a couple on the xmas list (off road to athens for one), but could use a couple more...

I should send you my TransRockies DVDs I got last year. Might be a good watch. Let me know and I can plunk them in the mail!

If you dig road racing, there are a few I saw over at World Cycling Productions. One called "Hell On Wheels" about the T-Mobile team. Wish there were more MTB DVDs around. All you can ever find are the ones about hucking off of a cliff. Not my bag.
